1.1 The Goal of This Course

The Goal of This Course

This template or master tool is called The Anatomy of a Brilliant Speech. How you use it is like a blueprint for speaking success. It can be used for a variety of public speaking opportunities – of course, for speeches and pitches, but also for panel hosting, moderating, webinars, workshops, promotion talks, thesis defense, classroom lectures, and even wedding toasts.

You can use it every time you need to gather your thoughts and share them with others with confidence and impact. I have clients from several years ago who tell me that they keep this master tool in their desk drawers and pull it out to help them compose their presentations - even five years later!

I have coached more than 100 TEDx speakers around the world and have developed this method from the many coaching sessions I have had to help them prepare their awesome TEDx talks. You will see more about my TEDx speakers throughout the course. But corporate executives also want to be able to tell stories and make an impact on their audiences, so the Anatomy document is also effective for business speech preparation.

The beauty of this tool is that you can use it EVERY time you need to prepare a presentation whether it is 3 minutes, 3 hours, 3 days or anything in between. It is a fluid and flexible speech blueprint where you can change the opening, closing, stories and other parts, based on the audience you are facing. But the foundation of your message/story is clearly defined to save you time and stressful late nights of last-minute preparation.

NOTE FROM BARBARA: This course can be as interactive as you want to be. If you prefer to just go through the modules - no problem. But you are welcome to drop me a comment about the content or questions you have about the material. A high percentage of people start an e-course and then don't finish it. I want to make it interesting and fun so that you DO finish the course.

The sections are short and to the point. No Blah-Blah! I promise!
